Wikilin

Wikilin is an application for android devices, which edit/view wiki formated text.  Formatting style is similar to TiddlyWiki and added formatting for tel link, map link and web search link.
Text decorations are bold, italic, underline, strike line, heading, list, numbered list and table.
Wikilin can save text file to SD card, thus be able to edit and add from PC or synchronizing application.

Great app. Thanks a lot for creating it.

Is there a way to work on the wiki files on the PC? Just starting with Android, but I’m thinking may be something via dropbox and a PC-side TiddlyWiki (but it seems to use one file only)?

      Hi, Gene.

Currently, it is only editable as plain text file. I’m planning to export as XML for TiddlyWiki to import.

I’ve got some problems downloading Wikilin through the Android Market. It says it can’t find the app. Is it possible to download it any other way?

      Hi, MultiversalInk.

Currently, it is only at Android Market.
Could you tell me your Android version? Wikilin should work for 1.5 or later.
      And is your OS rooted?

My Android version is 1.6. I don’t know about OS rooting, I’m kind of new to Android.

Anyway, the problem isn’t the download itself, it’s that it’s not available in the Android Market here. I was just wondering if there was another way to download Wikilin. If there’s a reason why there isn’t, I’ll respect that. I was just wondering.

I’ve not uploaded Wikilin apk file in other places besides the Android Market.
I think you will have to contact the Android Market support to solve this problem.

        I have the same problem with a non-rooted 2.1.

I think the problems related with how the Market blocks non-free apps for some countries. Maybe Wikilin somehow got grouped in that category.

        Hi ORYLY,

        Thanks for your feedback.
I found many reports of the issue (ex http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2010/06/application-visibility-issues.html ). Just now, I changed copy protection to be OFF. Please check market again.

No results for “Wikilin” and I couldn’t find it when searching for “wiki”. I also tried a direct link from one of those Market search sites but nothing came up.

Looks like the Market’s borked somehow.

I would rather see some compatability with dokuwiki http://www.dokuwiki.org/dokuwiki IMHO tidly is not really great. But till then I guess wikilin is serving a purpose on my android just would be so much better to cross with my Ubuntu box.

Thumbs up for your wikilin app. Very nice, cleverly designed and very efficient to use. The combination of the desktop and android version is incredibly useful.

I might have a list of suggestions/improvements that might be very helpful. Are u interested and what is the best way to communicate them to you ?

I really appreciate the work you’ve done on this. Very efficient application. I do have one recommendation/request that I think is easy and will improve the program. On the right side of the tools bar in edit mode add a button that saves and shifts to display mode. Right now this is a two button operation.
Thanks again for a great tool.

You should be able to set that under Menu…Color.

It expands controls inline of the wiki (not totally intuitive, but lets you set a whoie lot of presentation options).

Hi there, I just discovered the firefox add-on. What a wonderful idea – this is what I’ve always wished TiddlyWiki could do. You know what would be extra-cool (besides turning this into a fully functional TW file with your custom plugin) – to run this as a desktop application using html and javascript with this: http://appjs.org/

I don’t think the author is monitoring this account / actively developing anymore. I found another app called “wikimind note pro” that’s *almost* as good as wikilin. The author does respond to emails. I’m not sure about him going own source though.
